During this retreat, you will stay on a family estate tucked on top of a hill among the pine trees, overlooking the meadows and pastures of Zlatar Mountain. The house has a spectacular terrace with a panoramic view and a small swimming pool, making it really tempting to just stay around the whole day. There are two accommodation options, both made entirely of wood and decorated with traditional Serbian artisan work.
You can stay in one of the two wooden bungalows; each has a bathroom, a kitchenette, a living room, and a bedroom, as well as a sunny porch. Each bungalow can host three or four people. Or you can stay in one of the five double rooms in the main building; all of them with an amazing view. All the rooms are on the same floor and share one shower and three toilets.
Mornings are reserved for the practice, which takes around two hours. After the class, you will have a freshly prepared brunch. In the afternoons, you will go for relaxing walks, enjoying the silence and scenery of the mountain and the villages. The lake is merely four kilometers away, so swimming is always an option.
You'll take a boat ride through Uvac Gorge, which holds an impressive cave and an even more impressive view of the meandering river. If you'd like extra adventure, you can do some kayaking through Uvac Gorge. It is definitely an unforgettable experience!
Another possible day-trip is to the waterfalls of Sopotnica. In the evenings, you will be back in the center, in a yoga and meditation class for one to one and a half hours before having delicious home cooked dinner around 7 p.m. Marija teaches traditional Hatha yoga, with a lot of emphasis on the proper alignment of the body, breath, and focus. Apart from asana (posture), you will practice pranayama (yogic breathing), as well as meditation in each class.
The classes are organized as workshops, during which you will explore different physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the practice and is suitable for all levels. Beginners will have the chance to get the taste of yoga and build a strong foundation for their yogic journey.
More experienced yogis will deepen their understanding and get some inspiration to further develop their practice. All activities and classes are optional, and everybody is welcome to skip any of them any time they feel like it. The house has a spectacular terrace with a panoramic view and a small swimming pool, making it really tempting to just stay around the whole day.
Marija teaches Hatha yoga, infused with some elements of Vinyasa Flow and free movement exploration, with an emphasis on proper alignment, breathing, and focus. Her aim is to help students get a better understanding of their bodies and movements so that they can work together on developing their safe and sustainable personal practice. Meditation is an essential part of her classes. For her, to touch the essence of asana practice is to move mindfully, to develop body awareness and learn how to listen to our bodies with kindness and understanding.
You will have two hearty meals a day: a brunch and a dinner. All the meals at the retreat will be vegetarian and they will be served in the spacious, light restaurant, featuring an amazing terrace and a fireplace. The food at the retreat will be freshly prepared mostly from local ingredients, such as vegetables, fruits, locally made jams and honey, as well as famous cheese and other dairy products from Zlatar Mountain.
